So the walls are still open. I am a little upset with my
insurance company- this should be done and over with. Alas no. I am stuck still
out of my crafts room. <Sad
face>
So, I only have 4 days to make a 2 picture layout for the February
challenge! I must get to it! But, I can present to you my “chef d’oeuvre” that
I did during my mix-media class.
I took the course at my local arts store Çafabrik. There the lovely Melanie Matthews – lovely ambassador
for Golden – was giving a class on mix-media.
We started with a 12X12 wooden
base that we covered with black gesso. Then using a few different bases we
learned how to use different mediums such as: gels, pastes, polymers and
acrylic paints. We also learned fun techniques where we used masks, marking
tools, and we learned 2 different ways to do image transfers.
I’d explain the techniques but she has a book that can be
purchased and a video on YouTube. Also, it is a
very interesting course to take and it’s a great way to learn the why behind it all.
We also did a gel image transfer. Click HERE to see a
technique similar to the one I learned.
Here is a look of the finished product. We had access to all
colours and stencils so everyone in the class had a different looking product.

I cannot wait to gain access to my room and start playing
again! I want to be able to use my new found skills and add some in my scrap pages and practice in my art journal!<SMILE!>
Until next time, happy crafting!
